Amid speculations of a possible defection by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, the leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has passed a vote of confidence in the governor, affirming its support for any political direction he may choose.
The decision was reached at a meeting held on Saturday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, where party leaders urged Governor Adeleke to continue consulting widely with stakeholders at both state and national levels.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the PDP caucus deliberated extensively after a briefing from the governor and subsequently issued a communique conveying its unanimous support.
In the communique, the party leaders resolved to stand by the governor and “follow him wherever he goes,” affirming their loyalty and trust in his leadership and political judgment.
The meeting, however, acknowledged that Governor Adeleke is still consulting on his next course of action amid the ongoing political developments.
Those in attendance included Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi; Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi; and House of Representatives members Hon. Bamidele Sallam, Hon. Clement Olohunwa, and Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro.
Also present were South West PDP Vice Chairman, Engr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe; Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; and other top state officials, including former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The gathering featured key party stalwarts, political appointees, and local government leaders, all reaffirming their confidence in Governor Adeleke’s leadership and political alignment moving forward.
