The Osun State Government has unveiled plans for a Security Trust Fund and is seeking private sector support to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Exco Chamber, Secretariat, Abere, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Mr Kunle Adepoju, said the initiative, designed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, represents a decisive step towards ensuring safety, stability and prosperity in the state.

Adepoju described security as the foundation for meaningful development, stressing that businesses, communities and citizens cannot thrive in an unsafe environment.

He said the proposed fund would serve as a platform for partnership, bringing together government, private sector players, development partners and individuals to pool resources in support of security agencies.

According to him, the fund is expected to provide modern equipment, technology, training, logistics and intelligence support to address critical gaps and enhance operational efficiency.

Adepoju assured that transparency and accountability would guide the management of the fund, noting that a governance structure has been established to ensure oversight, prudent management and regular public reporting.

Also speaking, Secretary of the Implementation Committee, Barr. Femi Oyedipe, said funding security is one of the most expensive responsibilities of government, adding that no government can handle it alone.

Oyedipe explained that the initiative is built on a
public-private partnership model, with a board already in place to oversee the fund and process requests for security infrastructure when needed.
