Otun Balogun is not a doctor, can’t ascertain Olakulehin’s health, says Ladoja

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has criticized the Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola for his stance regarding the health condition of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Ajibola had on Tuesday declared that the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, his immediate superior in the Olubadan military line, is unfit to ascend the throne due to health challenges.
The Otun Balogun Olubadan went on to say that the Olubadan-designate should be given time to recover before being nominated, implying the throne should remain empty for the time being.
Reacting to the statement credited to the Otun Balogun Olubadan, Ladoja said he (Ajibola) only offered his personal opinion regarding Olakulehin’s health, adding that Ajibola is not a medical doctor and not in a position to ascertain the health status of the Olubadan-designate.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday at his home in Bodija, Ibadan, Ladoja said Olakulehin is an elderly man and should not be expected to behave like a young person.
“Olakulehin is not 20 years old man, he is not 30 years old or 40 years old man, he is above 80 years, so, we can’t expect him to act like a youth,” he said.
Ajibola is required to nominate Olakulehin as Olubadan. But addressing concerns about the possibility of replacing Ajibola if he fails to attend the Olubadan-in-council meeting on Friday, Ladoja stated that Ajibola may be replaced by the High Chief next to him in the hierarchy.
“Ajibola can be substituted to nominate Olubadan if he doesn’t come to the meeting, I’ve already slated a meeting for Friday because tomorrow is a public holiday, if he doesn’t come, he can be substituted,” Ladoja revealed.
