Our administration prioritises inclusive, quality education — First Lady

By Kunle Sanni –

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to investing in quality and inclusive education that equips children and young people to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

In a message to commemorate the International Day of Education 2026, Senator Tinubu emphasised that education remains Nigeria’s strongest tool for empowering the next generation with critical thinking skills, ethical values, and responsible citizenship.

She stressed that Nigeria’s priority is to invest in education that enables children and youth to think critically, act responsibly, and embrace the future with confidence and compassion, especially as technology reshapes societies and economies.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” the First Lady highlighted the need to balance innovation with humanity. She said that while artificial intelligence presents immense opportunities, humans must remain at the centre of decision-making.

“As we embrace artificial intelligence and innovation, we must ensure that technology serves humanity, not the other way around,” she stated, adding that education plays a vital role in nurturing creativity, values, and ethical judgment in a technology-driven era.

Senator Tinubu noted that by strengthening inclusive education systems, Nigeria can prepare its youth not only to adapt to automation but also to lead with empathy, integrity, and purpose.
