Our student arrested with drug laced cakes rare exception- Unilorin

The Director, Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, has described the student of the university one Ayomide Morakinyo arrested by the officials of National Drugs Enforcement Agency (NDLEA ) for lacing cupcakes with drugs as a “rare exception” to the other students of the institution.

Morakinyo was arrested by the NDLEA on Sunday 29th of December 2024 at Tanke-University of Ilorin road, Oke Odo.

She was allegedly producing and selling drug laced cupcakes to students in the community.

It was reported that when his apartment was searched,42 pieces of drugged cakes were recovered from them.

Reacting to the arrest in a terse message when contacted by WESTERN POST Correspondent on Sunday in Ilorin, the Director said “my only reaction is that this is definitely not in our character”.

“The student in question is a rare exception to our students, who are always well behaved and comport themselves diligently everywhere they find themselves” he said.
