By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the August 15, 2026, governorship election, while calling for a thorough investigation into reported political killings in the state.

Addressing APC leaders, members and supporters in Osogbo on Saturday, Oyebamiji said he was pained by the violence perpetrated against people before, during and particularly after the election.

He appealed to Adeleke, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to use his constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of citizens, particularly during the post-election period.

Oyebamiji specifically recalled the killings of former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Hon. Remi Abass, in Ikire; APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government Area, Chief Gbenga Ogbara; Mr Dele Ayegbo, nephew of Hon. Wole Oke and Director-General of his 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, as well as more than 35 other victims.

He called on the Nigeria Police Force to thoroughly investigate the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice, while extending his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives to political violence.

Oyebamiji said, “The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith. Attacks on innocent citizens and their businesses must not be allowed to continue.”

The APC candidate also alleged that some small and medium-sized businesses had been attacked because of the perceived political affiliations of their owners, describing the development as condemnable and unacceptable. He stressed that security and a conducive environment for businesses were essential to economic growth and investment.

Oyebamiji urged APC members not to be discouraged by the election outcome, saying the party would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means. He also called on members to close ranks, strengthen the party’s structures and commence mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
