The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has commended President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for the rescue of teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after 56 days in captivity.

Oyebamiji, in a statement signed by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the campaign council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, commended the President for his unwavering political will and strategic directive in deploying a specialised security unit to resolve the crisis.

The APC candidate also lauded the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies for the intelligence-led operation.

He stated that the President’s refusal to concede to criminal demands, combined with his decision to approve 1,000 forest guards to reinforce regional security, underscored a decisive commitment to protecting lives and property across the country.

“Our heartiest accolades go to the gallant officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies.

“Their flawlessly coordinated, intelligence-driven operation not only brought our children and teachers home without collateral damage, but also successfully neutralised multiple terrorists and led to the strategic arrest of some abductors,” Oyebamiji stated.

While extending condolences to the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed during the abduction, the APC candidate expressed concern over what he described as the security situation in Osun, alleging that the Adeleke administration had failed to demonstrate proactive leadership despite allegedly receiving over N15 billion in security votes.

Oyebamiji urged residents to remain patient until the end of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s tenure in November 2026. He also called on the governor to prioritise the security of lives and property and ensure transparency in the deployment of the state’s security votes to strengthen border security.
