By Boye Oyeyemi

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dissolved his State Executive Council ahead of his second-term inauguration scheduled for Friday, October 16, retaining three key officials in their positions.

The dissolution was announced on Monday at the cabinet’s valedictory meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. It affects commissioners, special advisers, director-generals and other political appointees who served in the administration during its first term.

However, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habitat Adubiaro; Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode; and Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo, have been retained in their respective positions.

The decision, taken four days before the end of Oyebanji’s first term, clears the way for the reconstitution of the state cabinet as the governor prepares to begin another four-year tenure.

At the meeting, Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the outgoing cabinet members for their contributions to his administration and their commitment to the development of Ekiti State.

He acknowledged their support and dedication, noting that their efforts had contributed to the achievements recorded by his government over the past four years.

The governor also commended the outgoing officials for their roles in implementing government policies and programmes aimed at advancing the state’s development agenda.

The dissolution comes ahead of Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration on October 16, after which the governor is expected to reconstitute the State Executive Council to drive his administration’s programmes for the next four years.
