Oyebanji preaches unity as ex-governors endorse re-election

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has said he holds no grudge against anyone over past political differences.

He made the remark during a Thanksgiving service in Ado-Ekiti to mark his third year in office.

Oyebanji said his focus is on unity and collective progress. “By nature, I don’t bear grudges against anybody. I have forgiven those who took a different course during our party’s primary,” he said.

He appreciated those who criticise his government constructively, saying such feedback keeps him accountable. The governor also thanked former leaders for their mentorship and support.

Former governors across party lines described Oyebanji as a unifier. They also declared support for his re-election in 2026, praising his leadership and development strides.

Former Governor Segun Oni commended Oyebanji for steering the state toward growth despite limited resources. Dr Kayode Fayemi, represented by his wife Bisi, said Ekiti had witnessed stability under Oyebanji.

Ayodele Fayose said the governor had “removed division from Ekiti politics” and predicted an easy victory for him. He urged Oyebanji to continue forgiving and leading with humility.

Bishop Olusola Ajayi of the Anglican Diocese hailed Oyebanji’s inclusiveness and commitment to development.

He prayed for strength and divine guidance for the governor to sustain his achievements.
