Owo community appoints Sheikh Yunus Anola as new Imam

The Muslim community in Owo, Ondo State, has appointed a renowned Islamic scholar and teacher, Fadhilat Sheikh Yunus Abdullahi Anola, as the new Grand Chief Imam of Owo Kingdom.
Sheikh Anola, who previously served as the Imam of the Ondo State Government House Mosque, Alagbaka, Akure, was named as the successor to the late Alhaji Ahmed Aladesawe, who passed away a few weeks ago.
WESTERN POST reports that until his death, Aladesawe was the Chief of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, as well as the Secretary General of the league covering the Southwest, Edo, and Delta States.
Reacting to the announcement, an Owo Muslim faithful expressed joy over the choice of Sheikh Anola, saying, “Alhamdulilah! Alhamdulillah! robul alamina. He whom the cap fits should wear it. We thank Allah that the Owo Muslim Community made the right decision.
“May Allah ease the Imamship for hhim andmake it beneficial to Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria, Islam and humanity. Aameen thuma aameen.”
The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, DDrOlayide Owolabi Adelami, also congratulated the new Chief Imam, describing his appointment as well-deserved and a testament to his humility, integrity, and devotion to Allah.
Adelami said, “I received the news of your selection as the Grand Chief Imam of Owo Kingdom with great joy and a deep sense of pride. Your life of service has long reflected humility, truth, and steadfast devotion to Almighty Allah. You have been consistent in promoting peace, compassion, and understanding among all people, values that resonate deeply with our shared vision for a united and progressive Owo.”
He commended the overwhelming acceptance of Sheikh Anola’s appointment across religious lines, noting that it reflects his role as a bridge builder and unifying figure in the community.
