Oyebanji presents N415bn 2026 budget, hails Tinubu’s economic reforms

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Friday presented a budget estimate of N415.57 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, focusing on completing ongoing projects and deepening his administration’s development agenda.
Presenting the budget titled “Budget of Impactful Governance” before the State House of Assembly, Oyebanji said it comprises N221.87 billion for recurrent expenditure and N193.70 billion for capital expenditure, representing 53 and 46 per cent of the total, respectively.
The governor explained that the 2026 budget, which is about 11 per cent higher than that of 2025, was designed to strengthen infrastructure, boost agriculture, create jobs, and ensure food security across the state.
Oyebanji said the budget was the outcome of broad consultations with community representatives, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
He noted that the proposed budget aligns with the State Development Plan (2021–2050) and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (2026–2028), adding that fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability would continue to guide its implementation.
“Distinguished Honourable members, without any fear of contradiction, I make bold to say that our administration has demonstrated a high level of fiscal discipline and prudence in the utilisation of our commonwealth to implement laudable developmental projects,” Oyebanji stated.
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to Ekiti State, saying his reforms have contributed greatly to poverty reduction and improved living standards in the state.
He pledged that his administration would sustain its focus on good governance and inclusive growth.
