Oyebanji urges Ekiti residents to support Tinubu, pray for reform success

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has urged residents of the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and intensify prayers for his administration as it implements reforms aimed at easing hardship and repositioning Nigeria’s economy.
Oyebanji made the call on Friday at an inter-faith thanksgiving service held at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre, Ado-Ekiti, to mark the first working day of 2026, where he led government officials and residents in prayers for peace, progress and prosperity.
The governor said the president needs the collective support of Nigerians to overcome forces he described as saboteurs bent on frustrating efforts to free the country from economic hardship, noting that ongoing reforms are already yielding results.
He cited improvements such as a reduction in food prices and the pump price of petrol, as well as signs of naira stability and easing inflation, urging Nigerians to support the president’s tax reforms to boost revenue across all tiers of government.
Oyebanji also commended President Tinubu for what he described as strong support for Ekiti State, saying the assistance had helped the state record significant progress and calling on residents to reciprocate through continued support and prayers.
On state politics, the governor reiterated his call for peace before, during and after the June 20 governorship election, assuring that governance and service delivery would not be disrupted by electioneering activities.
He expressed confidence that his performance over the past three years would earn him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) another term, while declaring 2026 a year of unlimited opportunities for Ekiti State.
Earlier, religious leaders urged political office holders to remain faithful, accountable and compassionate in their stewardship, reminding them that power is transient and must be exercised in service to the people.
