The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, has called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu and other leaders during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of peace, forgiveness, and unity.
Oyetola made the call on Friday at a Ramadan lecture and the official commissioning of the Alhaja Wulemotu Oyetola Memorial Central Mosque in Iragbiji, built in honor of his late mother.
“Ramadan is a month of peace and forgiveness. We should ensure we are at peace with everyone and continue to pray for our leaders—the President, Governors, Ministers, and all those in positions of authority. The blessings of Almighty Allah will come to us,” he said.

The former Governor of Osun State recounted his mother’s dedication to community service, recalling their 2006 conversation when she was installed as Iyalaje Adini of a central mosque.
“When I asked what she wanted, she expressed a desire for me to invite friends to contribute to the mosque’s rehabilitation. That year, I donated N6.5 million, which was fully used for the project,” he said.
Reflecting on her legacy, Oyetola said he decided to build a central mosque in her memory, a project that took two years to complete.
Commissioning the mosque, the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, Chief Dr. Khamis Olatunde Badmus, emphasized the importance of supporting fellow Muslims beyond Ramadan.
Describing the mosque as a lasting tribute to Oyetola’s mother, he urged Muslims to emulate such acts of devotion and community service.
