Oyintiloye urges critics to show patriotism, support Tinubu’s leadership
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged critics and opposition figures to avoid making unpatriotic remarks against Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye, a former member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, said that disparaging the country and its leadership under the guise of politics is damaging Nigeria’s global image.
He noted that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it should be exercised with responsibility and respect for national institutions and leadership.
According to him, reckless comments by Nigerians at home and abroad — especially by high-profile individuals — send the wrong message to the international community and undermine efforts to reposition the country.
“No matter the challenges we face, we must learn to speak about our country with dignity. Americans always say ‘God Bless America’ regardless of their situation. That level of patriotism is what we need. Constantly dragging the country and its leadership in the mud, especially on global platforms, does us no good,” he said.
Oyintiloye warned that comments made online can have lasting consequences and may one day affect those who made them, as the internet never forgets.
He advised that criticism of government policies should be constructive and civil, rather than being rooted in personal or political frustration.
The APC stalwart called on all Nigerians to rise above political differences, support the administration with prayers and positive contributions, and work collectively toward overcoming the country’s challenges.
