Student leaders from tertiary institutions across Osun State have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, stating that his performance in less than three years surpasses the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) 12-year tenure in the state.
The endorsement was made during a gathering at the Government House Banquet Hall, where representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Osun Students (NAOS) praised Adeleke’s administration for delivering good governance and democratic dividends.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Comrade Ayobami Solomon Abel, Chairman of NANS JCC Osun Axis, commended Adeleke’s achievements as visible and impactful. “We are here to acknowledge your good work. Osun people are feeling the positive impact of your administration. You have outperformed the previous 12 years of APC rule. That is a self-evident fact,” he said.
Similarly, NAOS National President, Comrade Adedibu Mustafa Akinsumbo, said Osun had witnessed unprecedented development under Adeleke in areas such as agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, sports, rural development, and cooperative empowerment.
“Your good works are recognised across all sectors. Workers, farmers, artisans, market men and women have all endorsed you. You have earned their support through your performance, despite challenges and opposition. We, the student body, appreciate your commitment to the people,” Adedibu stated.
In response, Governor Adeleke thanked the students for their support and urged opposition figures who had failed the people during their time in office to acknowledge their shortcomings and respect the will of the people.
The governor also approved the release of two coastal buses for NANS and NAOS, ordered a technical assessment of internal campus roads, and promised urgent attention to student bursary awards.
