The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended its members for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the recently concluded party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party gave the commendation on Thursday after concluding the fourth phase of its scheduled primaries, including the governorship primary, which produced a candidate from among 11 aspirants cleared by the party’s National Secretariat.

In a statement issued in Ibadan by the state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC described the conduct of members throughout the exercise as commendable, noting that their discipline and commitment contributed significantly to the success of the process.

The party acknowledged that some aspirants and stakeholders expressed grievances over aspects of the primaries but assured members that no individual would be sidelined in the affairs of the party.

According to the statement, most of those who raised concerns remained committed progressives passionate about democracy and good governance, while the party maintained that the successful conduct of its direct primaries reflected its commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation.

It noted that members demonstrated maturity in electing candidates for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship positions, while preparations for the presidential primary were ongoing.

Sadare said many political observers had doubted the possibility of any political party conducting peaceful direct primaries, adding that the APC in Oyo State had proven such doubts wrong.

He added that although the party was not claiming perfection, members and stakeholders deserved commendation for their loyalty, dedication and team spirit throughout the exercise, while also disclosing that reconciliation efforts had begun to unite aggrieved members ahead of the 2027 elections.
