Oyo Assembly Majority Leader Sanjo Adedoyin quits PDP

The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Sanjo Adedoyin, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Adedoyin, who represents Ogbomoso South constituency, announced his resignation in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday, saying his decision followed deep reflection and consultations.

He attributed his move to the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP, which he said had weakened the party’s capacity to function effectively as an opposition platform.

The lawmaker noted that the unresolved internal disputes in the party influenced his decision to align with a political platform that better reflects his current political direction.

His resignation brings the number of PDP lawmakers who have recently left the party in the Oyo State House of Assembly to four.

Other legislators had earlier announced similar exits, citing internal crises and lack of stability within the party as key reasons for their decisions.

Adedoyin is expected to formally align with the APM as political realignments continue ahead of the next election cycle in the state.
