The Oyo State House of Assembly has launched a comprehensive investigation into the operations of the state-owned Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS).

The directive was issued after the House received an interim report from its Committee on Transport on Wednesday.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Babajide Adebayo, was given a two-week deadline to engage with PTS management and officials.

The report revealed that the Sole Administrator, Dr. Oladeji Salami Ibrahim, had recruited 106 additional staff without proper authorization.

Deputy Speaker Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi dismissed claims that PTS operates as an independent agency, emphasizing that the Assembly has the constitutional authority to investigate any entity funded by taxpayers’ money.

Hon. Dele Adeola commended Governor Seyi Makinde for upgrading PTS to help mitigate transportation costs following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin directed the committee to conduct a thorough review of PTS, focusing on staff audits, operations, finances, government subventions, and revenue generation.

He also urged the executive arm to establish a legal framework for PTS through the Ministry of Justice.
