Oyo explores partnership with French investors on agribusiness, industrial growth

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has disclosed that his administration is engaging French investors to drive sustainable development and industrial growth in the state.
Speaking on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Paris, Makinde said he met with the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), the largest employer federation in France with over 750,000 member firms.
According to him, MEDEF expressed strong interest in Oyo State’s plans for sustainable cities and industrial agriculture, particularly investments in the Ijaiye Agribusiness Industrial Hub and the proposed Rungis-style wholesale agrifood market to be established at the hub.
Makinde added that discussions also focused on opportunities in airport cargo operations and agro-logistics, tied to the ongoing upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport into an international airport.

“We assured them that Oyo State is ready for international development cooperation and investments. Our administration will ensure that we support interested investors to establish businesses in our state,” Makinde said.
The governor maintained that the partnership will strengthen Oyo State’s position as a hub for agribusiness and international trade in Nigeria.
