Federal government workers under the platform of the Federal Workers Forum (FWF) in Oyo State on Tuesday commenced an indefinite strike over the non-payment of their five months’ outstanding wage awards.
The aggrieved workers, who occupied the Federal Secretariat in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday morning, vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands are met by the federal government.

According to the National Coordinator of the FWF, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, the workers had earlier issued a 21-day ultimatum to the federal government before declaring the strike.
The workers are demanding the immediate payment of the outstanding five months’ wage award arrears, the implementation of the 40% peculiar allowance, and the payment of its arrears.
“Our demands are straightforward: the immediate payment of the outstanding five months’ wage award arrears,” Emelieze said.
