Oyo Government issues advisory to forestall cholera outbreak in schools

Oyo State Government has issued health guidelines to head of schools to prevent an outbreak of cholera across the state.
The advisory, issued and signed by the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Adeniran underlined the significance of good hand hygiene.
According to the guidelines, children should always carry hand sanitizers and wash their hands with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom.
It also suggested that schools maintain Oral Rehydration Salt in their clinics to handle cases of dehydration as soon as possible.
The government advised schools to contact the state’s emergency hotline, 615, right away in the event of a health emergency or a suspected case of cholera.
Furthermore, government urged parents, guardians, and school officials to abide by the safety rules, assuring that the education board would collaborate with teachers and education secretaries and other stakeholders to guarantee compliance.
