Oyo govt vows to prosecute examination malpractice culprits

The Oyo State Government has vowed to prosecute any individual, teacher, head teacher or principal found culpable of examination malpractice in connection with the recently conducted Common Entrance Placement Examination.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, made the disclosure during a meeting with Local Inspectors of Education and principals to investigate allegations of examination leakage and malpractice surrounding the examination.

The Common Entrance Placement Examination was conducted on Aug. 6, 2026, for the admission of pupils into Junior Secondary School One across the state.

Olayiwola said the government had taken several measures to prevent examination malpractice during the Joint Promotion and Common Entrance examinations but would thoroughly investigate the latest allegations.

He warned that the government would not tolerate any action capable of undermining the integrity and credibility of the state’s education system.

The commissioner said all principals had signed letters of indemnity and that any school administrator found to have aided, abetted or participated in examination malpractice would face appropriate sanctions under the law.

He added that the investigation would be conducted without regard to the status or position of anyone involved, with those found culpable facing disciplinary and legal consequences.

Olayiwola also urged broadcast media organisations to verify allegations thoroughly before reporting them, stressing that journalists and presenters should avoid indicting individuals or institutions without proper investigation.
