The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Ladipo Olabode Taiwo as commissioner in the state executive council following his screening and approval by lawmakers during plenary.

The confirmation followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Special Duties, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi.

The committee told the house that the nominee underwent a screening exercise and was found competent, qualified and suitable for appointment.

After deliberations, lawmakers unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendation and approved Taiwo’s nomination.

Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier forwarded the nominee’s name to the assembly for screening in a letter dated June 30, 2026, in line with constitutional provisions governing appointments.

The governor urged the house to give the nomination expeditious consideration, in accordance with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Dr. Taiwo, who previously served as commissioner for health in the state, is returning to the executive council to support governance and policy implementation in Oyo State.
