Oyo LG boss denies allegations of bias in Onipako selection

The Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government in Oyo State, Hon. Olusola Adeleke, has denied allegations of bias in the ongoing selection process for the Onipako of Pako, insisting that his actions are guided by fairness, due process, and respect for established chieftaincy laws.

Responding to claims of interference, Adeleke said he had to address discrepancies to prevent future disputes, while reassuring that all parties involved received a fair hearing before their names were forwarded for approval.

The chairman disclosed that the Onipako stool has remained vacant for about 14 years following the demise of the last monarch and that he inherited the unresolved crisis less than two years ago after assuming office.

According to him, at least seven previous council chairmen have been unable to resolve the matter.

Adeleke urged the kingmakers to stop attributing the prolonged dispute to him and instead focus on resolving internal disagreements as provided by law.

He emphasised that his administration is committed to ensuring a transparent and lawful process that will guarantee lasting peace in the Pako community.

He added that his intervention should not be seen as interference but as part of his statutory responsibility to ensure compliance with due process and chieftaincy regulations. Adeleke assured residents of a seamless installation process once all outstanding issues are resolved.
