The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Augustine A. Padonu, was on Thursday honoured with a Distinguished Patron Award.

The award was in recognition of his unwavering support, visionary leadership, and commitment to the welfare of officers and men of the Command.

The landmark event, held on Thursday, 24th April 2025, at the State Command Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, also featured the commissioning of two key projects: electric motorbikes to be distributed to deserving members of the society, and the renovated Officers’ Mess—revamped to enhance the comfort and well-being of NSCDC personnel. These were commissioned during the 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NSCDC (IB) Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Limited.

In his address, Commandant Padonu commended the outgoing executives of the Cooperative Society for their dedication, resourcefulness, and successful execution of various projects. He urged the newly inaugurated leadership to build on the solid foundation laid by their predecessors with renewed zeal and integrity.

Earlier, the President of the Cooperative Society, Superintendent of Corps Kayode Adebayo, highlighted the achievements of his administration, including consistent financial growth, enhanced support services for members, and infrastructural upgrades. He praised the collaborative spirit that propelled the society forward and pledged his continued support as an elder statesman of the cooperative.

The AGM also featured the presentation of awards and certificates to members and individuals who demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to the society’s growth. The outgoing executives were formally dissolved, paving the way for the inauguration of new officers to steer the society for the 2025/2026 tenure.

Chief Superintendent of Corps Adegunlola Victor was sworn in as the new President, alongside other elected officials, with a mandate to lead the Cooperative Society into a new era of financial discipline, innovation, and prosperity.

The event was attended by principal officers of the Command, personnel of the State Command, officials from the Oyo State Cooperative Federation (OSCOFED), and other key stakeholders in the cooperative movement.
