Oyo Speaker refutes victimisation claims, cautions against politicising Assembly

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has refuted claims of any planned suspension or victimisation of lawmakers, assuring that the 10th Assembly remains committed to equity, fairness, and democratic ideals.
Addressing colleagues at Tuesday’s plenary, Ogundoyin cautioned members against using the Assembly as a platform for political sympathy or cheap publicity ahead of the upcoming elections.
“No lawmaker will be victimised, but the authority of this House must be respected,” he stressed, urging members to focus on their legislative duties, constituency projects, and oversight functions.
The Speaker also commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for its prudent financial management, noting that Oyo State has increased its internally generated revenue without raising taxes and currently maintains one of the lowest foreign debt profiles in the South West.
He reiterated that the Assembly would continue to operate independently and responsibly, with lawmakers expected to prioritise service over politics.
