Oyo Speaker urges Igbo leaders to foster collaboration

The Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Adebo Ogundoyin, has urged the new executive members of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo (Oyo Chapter) to uphold Igbo values such as truth, justice, fairness and transparency to take the Igbo community to the promised land.

Ogundoyin pledged his unwavering support and government loyalty to the new executive members to deliver the dividends of democracy to Igbo extraction in the state.

He also emphasised the importance of collaboration between the government and the Igbo community for development and progress in the state.

Meanwhile, the newly elected President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo of Oyo State, Okechukwu Nwabunike, promised to work closely with the State Government and all other ethnic groups to ensure peaceful coexistence for the progress of the state.

Nwabunike made this promise in his acceptance speech during the inauguration of the new executive members, held at the Adamasingba Sports Complex in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday.

He appealed to all Igbos to put aside their differences, embracing peace and love to ensure the progress of the Igbo group in the state.

He said, “As a newly elected President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo of this state, I want to promise to work closely with the State Government and all other ethnic groups to ensure peaceful coexistence for the progress of the state.

“I want to also appeal to our people (Igbo) to put aside their differences and embrace peace and love to ensure the progress of the state.”
