Oyo TUC Chairman Olabiyi-Agoro named PENGASSAN president

Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Oyo State Council, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, has emerged as the National President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN.
Olabiyi-Agoro emerged unopposed at the association’s first Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja on Saturday, succeeding Festus Osifo, who previously led the association.
Osifo is the current president of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, making Olabiyi-Agoro’s emergence a significant development in the leadership of the oil and gas workers’ association.
A petroleum engineer, labour leader and industrial relations strategist, Olabiyi-Agoro has more than two decades of experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and currently serves with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
Before joining the regulatory commission, he built an extensive technical and operational career with industry players, including Baker Hughes and EA Temile and Sons, while also gaining experience in labour and industrial relations.
Olabiyi-Agoro holds a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, a postgraduate certificate in computing from London Metropolitan University and a Bachelor of Technology degree in chemical engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
Meanwhile, he has held several leadership positions within PENGASSAN, including National Financial Secretary from 2022 to 2023, National Auditor from 2020 to 2022 and Chairman of the Baker Hughes PENGASSAN Branch from 2016 to 2020, in addition to participating in local and international training programmes on leadership, negotiation and industrial relations.
In his acceptance speech, Olabiyi-Agoro pledged to prioritise workers’ welfare and build on the achievements and legacy of his predecessor, bringing his technical expertise, industry experience and trade union leadership to PENGASSAN as the association begins a new chapter under his stewardship.
