Sanwo-Olu to lead APC 2027 presidential campaign in South-West
By Adeola Ogunrinde
Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been appointed the All Progressives Congress’ Zonal Campaign Coordinator for the South-West ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment was announced on Saturday in a statement from the presidency listing members of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as chairman and vice chairman of the council, while former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as director-general and secretary, respectively.
Sanwo-Olu, who previously led the APC Governorship Campaign Council in Ondo State to electoral victories in 2020 and 2024, is expected to work with party leaders at the national, zonal and state levels to mobilise support for Tinubu across the region.
As the South-West zonal coordinator, Sanwo-Olu will oversee the president’s re-election campaign across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
Meanwhile, his mandate includes promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and mobilising political stakeholders across the six states in support of the APC’s campaign.
He is also expected to engage workers, trade unions, students, artisans, corporate organisations and other groups as the party seeks to strengthen its support base ahead of the election.
The appointment places Sanwo-Olu at the centre of the APC’s South-West campaign strategy, with the governor expected to coordinate stakeholders and lead efforts to secure a strong electoral performance for Tinubu across the region.
