Panel of Inquiry seeks public memoranda over Ondo community crisis

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Administrative Panel of Inquiry set up to investigate the communal crisis in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has called on members of the public to submit relevant memoranda that could assist its findings.

In a statement jointly signed by the panel’s secretary, Mr. Oladele Adesanmi, and chairman, Mr. Idowu Mafimisebion, in Akure, the panel said it was seeking credible information that would help unravel the remote and immediate causes of the unrest.

The panel noted that memoranda were expected from the general public, especially indigenes of Idogun and stakeholders who might be directly or indirectly affected by the outcome of its work. It described the process as a crucial opportunity for concerned parties to present facts relating to the crisis.

According to the statement, memoranda are to be submitted in 10 copies and must be accompanied by a written statement on oath obtained from a High Court in the state.

“Memoranda should be submitted to the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alagbaka, Akure.

“All memoranda must be submitted on or before Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.

“For other relevant information and enquiries, stakeholders should contact the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alagbaka, Akure.

“We promise that the panel will deliver on the mandate given it as we seek the cooperation of stakeholders to put an end to the crisis,” the statement added.

The Idogun crisis broke out on October 3 during the annual New Yam Festival, leading to attacks on some individuals by irate youths.
