As the Egbas jostled for who occupy the new Parakoyi Egba Chieftaincy title, an Igbore Chief, Olalekan Popoola has urged the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo to choose a better candidate among the Igbore descendants who are by tradition, the only section that should be the Gbegba Aje of Egbaland.

Chief Popoola who is Oloriode of Igbore, said Oba Gbadebo who is always very meticulous on matters that has to do with chieftaincy, should also extend same to who occupies Parakoyi Egba stool.

He said though the process of selecting any traditional chief like Parakoyi Egba rests solely on Igbore township, he nevertheless warns that the town will not trade it with other section of the town.

“Igbore has people of impeccable character like High Chief Jamiu Ololade Animashaun, Baale Afojupanla, who has been tested with various offices and task and has been found capable,” Chief Popoola said.

He said whoever will be chosen as Parakoyi Egba must come from Igbore township as by tradition, it is the only town in Egbaland where Aje deity resides.

“High Chief Jamiu Ololade Popoola, is the Baale General of Igbore, the current Baale of Afojupanla town. In all the task given to him, he has excelled, and it is our belief that if given higher task, he will not disappoint us,” he added.

Chief Popoola described Parakoyi Chieftaincy title as the Minister of Commerce in Egbaland, adding that the holder must be versed in matters that need to be done with trade and money.
