PDP accuses Kwara govt of politicising Offa robbery case, smearing Saraki’s reputation

The Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of attempting to reopen and politicise the Offa robbery case.
The allegation was made during a press conference held in Ilorin by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara.
According to him, the alleged move is a desperate attempt to damage the reputation of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
He expressed concern over reports suggesting renewed efforts to revisit the case, insisting that it had already gone through full judicial processes.
“We address you today with a deep sense of concern over a disturbing development that strikes at the very core of justice, humanity and responsible governance,” Adewara said.
Furthermore, the PDP claimed that the development reflects growing political tension in the state, linking it to recent comments by Saraki on insecurity.
The party maintained that previous investigations by security agencies found no link between Saraki and the incident, citing legal advice that no prima facie case was established against him.
Meanwhile, the PDP urged residents, particularly those affected by the Offa robbery, not to allow the incident to be used for political purposes, while warning that it would resist any attempt to destabilise the state’s political environment.
