PDP youths seek senate zoning to Asa LGA in 2027

Nominate Fatai Ayinde Aremu

A coalition of concerned youths within the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has called for the zoning of the Kwara Central senatorial ticket to Asa LGA ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group said the move would address long-standing grievances, deepen trust, and strengthen internal unity within the party.
Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin, the coalition’s spokesperson, AbdulSalam Ajelanwa, noted that since 1999, senatorial representation in Kwara Central has been dominated by the Ilorin metropolis, particularly Ilorin West.
He described the trend as a structural imbalance that has denied Asa council any opportunity to produce a senator, stressing that representation drives development and inclusion.
Ajelanwa said the “Asa Lokan” demand reflects a call for fairness and equity, adding that the coalition has endorsed Fatai Ayinde Aremu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 poll.
The group also commended the leadership of Bukola Saraki for stabilising the party in the state, insisting that it is now Asa’s turn to produce the next senator.
On allegations linked to the Offa bank robbery, the coalition described the charges against Saraki as baseless and a rehash of past claims that failed under legal scrutiny.
“We dare the Kwara State Government to show any credible evidence linking our leader to armed robbery or homicide; this is not due process but a political hatchet job,” the group said.
