PDP’s Oluyede faults INEC over exclusion from Ekiti governorship list

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has rejected the removal of his name from the provisional list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2026 election.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ikere-Ekiti on Wednesday, Oluyede insisted that INEC had no justification for the omission, declaring that he would challenge the decision through all lawful means.
He noted that officials of the electoral body monitored the PDP governorship primary and recognised him as the winner, questioning why the commission later excluded his name.
Oluyede expressed concern that some political parties, which allegedly did not conduct primaries, were listed, while the PDP, which held a monitored exercise, was excluded.
Describing the development as unacceptable, he explained that INEC had no right to disenfranchise him and party members who participated in what he described as a credible primary election.
The governorship hopeful urged his supporters to remain calm, adding that consultations were ongoing with the party’s leadership at both the state and national levels.
Western Post had reported that INEC released the provisional list of candidates on Tuesday, with the omission widely linked to the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP, as stakeholders await the commission’s next move ahead of the poll.
