PHOTO NEWS: Abeokuta Girls Grammar School celebrates 70th founder’s day

Abeokuta Girls Grammar School, founded in 1955, celebrated its 70th anniversary during the week with many of the prominent ex-girls in attendance.
The former students converged on the school for a week-long activities that included motivational sessions with the current students.

Former First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, who attended in the school, was among the famous students who participated in the celebration activities.

Erelu Fayemi, a member of 1973-78 set, wrote on her social media profile:
“I recently attended the 70th anniversary of the founding of my alma mata, Abeokuta Girls Grammar School. Founded in 1955, AGGS has seen generations of girls who went on to become accomplished women in various fields around the world.

“The 70th-anniversary programs featured a Thanksgiving event with the current students, a reunion luncheon, fundraising, and visits to local leaders. Each set of Old Girls was invited to march/dance past, and I was delighted to join my set, class of 1973-1978.

“My set also joined other alumni to fund a project for the school. Our project was the renovation and purchase of equipment for the school kitchen. It is important for us to support our old schools if we are in a position to do so.

“I thank God for a successful program, and I congratulate the AGGSOGA President, Mrs Elizabeth Olusolape Akinola, and her team for all the hard work. UP AGGS!!”
