PHOTO NEWS: Lagos creative community hosts David Lammy, UK Foreign Secretary

The Lagos creative community, along with Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; EbonyLife Productions CEO, Mo Abudu; and Silverbird Television President, Ben Murray-Bruce, hosted the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, in Lagos on Sunday.

At the event, Lammy highlighted the “flourishing relationship” between the UK and Nigeria, emphasizing the need to “nurture and strengthen” these ties.

The gathering attracted numerous stakeholders from Nigeria’s art and creative sectors. After a private meeting with Minister Musawa, Lammy addressed the crowd gathered at the British High Commissioner’s lodge in Ikoyi, Lagos.

In a light-hearted moment, the Foreign Secretary remarked, “I have sampled jollof rice on more occasions than you know,” drawing laughter from the audience. “Tea makes everything better. As a British person, I know better,” he added, jokingly.

This was Lammy’s first visit to Nigeria as Foreign Secretary, with additional stops planned in South Africa during his African tour.
