Vice President Kashim Shettima led the procession for Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja on Wednesday alongside top government officials which include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Deputy Speaker of House Representatives, Kalu Uche.

The solemn event was used to celebrate the memories of fallen soldiers who served the country in war and various theatre of operations within and outside Nigeria.

The day is celebrated every year on January 15th to coincide with the first military coup in Nigeria in 1966 where many officers and soldiers were killed including the Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Premier of Western Region, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola and other First Republic politicians.
