Police appoint Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola as youth ambassador

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has appointed the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, as a National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force.
Agboola’s appointment is under the International Youth Day 2026 National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative, which seeks to engage young Nigerians in promoting peace, innovation and cybersecurity awareness.
The appointment was formalised following a high-level strategic visit by a Flutterwave delegation to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on September 7.
According to the Nigeria Police Force, Agboola was selected in recognition of his achievements in technology entrepreneurship and his leadership in developing Flutterwave into one of Africa’s prominent fintech institutions.
The NPF added that the initiative would focus on encouraging young Nigerians to pursue legitimate economic opportunities, promote peacebuilding, strengthen cybersecurity awareness and discourage cybercrime and other social vices.
Agboola expressed appreciation for the appointment, saying leadership went beyond building technology and required commitment to mentorship, digital responsibility and supporting the next generation of innovators.
“I am fully committed to lending my voice and technical experience to ensure our youth have the secure, resilient foundation they need to scale ideas into global institutions,” he said.
Disu said the appointment was an important step towards positioning young Nigerians as active partners in creating safer communities. He also called for greater technological capacity within the security ecosystem, noting that improved digital tools and cyber-related investigative methods would strengthen national economic security.
