The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old ex-convict, Omokinwa Ademola, for allegedly beating his girlfriend, Joy Jimoh, to death following a disagreement over a N100,000 refund.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, said the incident occurred on October 7, 2025, around 5:30 p.m.

According to the statement, the suspect became violent during an argument with his girlfriend over money he had borrowed from her. In the heat of the disagreement, he repeatedly assaulted her until she became unconscious.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical practitioner.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Idanre led a team of detectives to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, described the incident as a cruel act of violence and assured that justice would be served.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served, emphasising that acts of domestic violence and brutality will not be tolerated under any guise,” the statement said.

The Commissioner directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for thorough investigation.
