Police arrest four suspects transporting military camouflage in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the transportation of military camouflage and other items intercepted along the Lekki-Epe corridor of the state.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai disclosed this on Tuesday, saying the suspects were apprehended after police operatives acted on intelligence regarding the movement of suspicious materials out of Lagos.
According to him, the truck conveying the items was intercepted while heading out of the state, leading to the arrest of the occupants and the recovery of several sacks containing military camouflage.
Fatai said preliminary investigations indicated that the items were being transported to a destination in the South-East, adding that detectives were working to identify those behind the operation and determine the intended use of the materials.
He noted that the recovery was significant in view of growing security concerns across the country, particularly the use of military-style uniforms by criminal groups involved in banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The police commissioner, however, said investigators had yet to establish the exact purpose of the camouflage materials, stressing that further inquiries were ongoing to uncover the full scope of the operation.
“We received information and swung into action. The vehicle conveying the sacks was intercepted while moving out of Lagos State, and those carrying them were arrested. We are still investigating to unravel those behind it,” Fatai said.
He added that the command was also tracking the suspected financier of the syndicate, expressing confidence that ongoing investigations and information provided by the arrested suspects would lead to more arrests and possible prosecution of those involved.
