Police arrest man for allegedly defiling 15-year-old girl in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Onaola was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station, with the case later transferred to the command’s Gender-Based Offences Unit for discreet investigation.
According to the police, the victim’s guardian reported on August 2, 2026, that the girl, who worked as a domestic help in the household, had repeatedly left home without permission.
The police said preliminary investigation indicated that the girl allegedly told investigators that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where the alleged offence occurred.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspect was arrested after operatives commenced investigation into the allegation.
Jimoh said the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, had directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation into the case.
The command said it remained committed to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from sexual exploitation, abuse and other forms of violence.
It added that the suspect remained in custody while investigation continued and would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, while urging parents, guardians and members of the public to promptly report suspected cases of abuse.
