Police arrest three robbery suspects in Ogun, recover motorcycle

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects involved in a robbery incident in Odeda, leading to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle and an ongoing search for their accomplices.

According to a statement signed on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on March 9, 2025, at about 7:10 PM near Egba/Odeda High School.

The victim, 21-year-old Akanji Lekan, reported that he was attacked by six men on two Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, who forcibly took his bag containing an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at ₦2.2 million and a Samsung X9 phone worth ₦220,000.

Upon receiving the complaint, police operatives swiftly mobilized and, with assistance from members of the public, intercepted three of the suspects along Osiele Road as they attempted to escape on a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (Reg. No. KSF 213 QN). The arrested suspects have been identified as:

  1. Femi Adesina (23 years old) – Lagos State
  2. Lawal Olasunkanmi (19 years old) – Lagos State
  3. Shola Sunkanmi (28 years old) – Ibadan, Oyo State

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed that they had handed over the stolen phones to their accomplices, identified as Noah, Opeyemi, and Ibrahim, who managed to evade arrest.

The recovered motorcycle has been taken into police custody as evidence, while the suspects remain in detention as investigations continue. The Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) is actively tracking down the fleeing accomplices.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid carrying expensive valuables in isolated areas. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities to law enforcement through the command’s emergency hotlines.
