‎Police commence investigation into vandalisation of billboards in Osun

‎The Osun State Police Command says it has commenced investigation into the recent vandalisation and destruction of billboards and other government symbols across the state.
‎
‎The command disclosed that discreet investigation had commenced with a view to identifying, arresting and prosecuting those responsible for the incidents in accordance with the law.
‎
‎In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the police said the destruction of public property was a direct attack on constituted authority and public peace.
‎
‎According to the statement, such criminal activities are capable of inciting tension, causing unnecessary unrest, and undermining efforts aimed at promoting relative peace in the state.
‎
‎The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, warned individuals or groups involved in the acts to desist forthwith, stating that the command will not tolerate any form of criminality capable of disrupting public peace.
‎
‎The command also urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct their activities within the provisions of the Electoral Act and embrace peaceful engagement, political tolerance and lawful conduct.
‎
‎Residents were also advised to remain law-abiding, avoid taking the law into their hands and report suspicious movements or persons involved in such acts to the nearest police station.
‎
‎The command reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and property, urging all stakeholders to join hands in preserving public infrastructure and maintaining peace across the state.
