The Ondo State Police Command has commenced a statewide show-of-force operation as part of intensified security preparations ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.

The exercise, ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, was aimed at demonstrating operational readiness and strengthening public confidence in the security architecture across Ondo State.

The operation covered Idanre and Owo Local Government Areas, where the Commissioner of Police led senior officers, tactical commanders, intelligence units, and other operational teams on coordinated patrols.

“The essence of this exercise is to reassure residents of our preparedness to maintain peace before, during and after all political engagements,” the police chief said during the operation.

He also visited the Regent of Idanre, High Chief Akinloye Akinboni, where he appealed for continued collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies in sustaining peace in communities.

The police commissioner warned that the command would not tolerate political violence, thuggery, cult-related activities or any form of intimidation during the political season.

“We will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group attempting to disrupt public peace or undermine democratic processes in the state,” he cautioned.

The command further urged political actors, supporters and residents to embrace peaceful conduct and rely on lawful channels for political engagement, assuring that adequate security measures had been deployed across strategic locations in the state.
