Police confirm discovery of missing 76-year-old’s body in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of the body of 76-year-old Sikiru Olatunji, who had been reported missing on February 8, 2025. His lifeless body was found approximately one and a half kilometers from Wasinmi Abule Maria, near Balogun Village, in the Yewa North Local Government Area.
According to police reports, Olatunji’s body was discovered lying face-up, with a cutlass by his side. No visible signs of violence were observed on his body, leaving the cause of death uncertain.
The discovery followed an extensive search operation, which involved police officers from the Imasayi Division, Amotekun operatives, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), the Baale, and local hunters.
Upon recovery, Olatunji’s family requested custody of the body for burial, which was granted. The police, however, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death and have called on the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in their inquiry.
The Ogun State Police Command further urged anyone with useful information to come forward to aid in a thorough investigation.
