Police confirm killing of cattle breeders’ chairman, launch investigation

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the murder of Alhaji Idris Abubakar, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State Chapter.
Abubakar was shot dead on March 8, 2025, at the entrance of his residence in Oke Ose, Oke-Oyi.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Sunday in Ilorin.
According to the statement, police detectives responded swiftly to the scene and recovered five expended 7.62mm shells. His remains have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Mortuary.
The statement added that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has launched a full investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He urged the public to remain calm and provide any useful information to aid the investigation.
