Police foil truck hijack, recover locally fabricated rifle in Ogun
Police operatives in Ogun State have foiled a truck hijacking operation and recovered a stolen DAF truck along with a wooden-fabricated rifle wrapped with black tape in Ijebu Imushin.
According to credible sources, detectives attached to the Ijebu Imushin Division of the Ogun State Police Command carried out the operation following a distress call received in the early hours of Wednesday.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babasẹyi.

As revealed in the statement, the truck driver was transporting motor spare parts when he was allegedly accosted by suspected hoodlums at the Oke-Ado area of Ijebu North LGA.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects forcefully took possession of the truck after intercepting the driver during the journey.
The police said detectives, working in collaboration with highway patrol operatives, swiftly mobilised to the scene after receiving the report, putting pressure on the suspects and forcing them to abandon the vehicle and flee.

Authorities noted that the prompt intervention of the operatives prevented the loss of property and successfully disrupted the criminal operation. The driver, who reportedly sustained a minor injury to his right ankle during the incident, was immediately given first aid treatment.
The statement added that a search conducted on the recovered truck led to the discovery of a wooden-fabricated rifle wrapped with black tape, while the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the swift response of the operatives and assured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
