The Kwara State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, including the interception of ammunition concealed in a bag of garri, the arrest of suspected cultists, and the recovery of a human skull.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the achievements were driven by intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies.

As revealed, in one of the operations, police operatives intercepted an unregistered vehicle along Ajase-Ipo Road, leading to the discovery of 98 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a bag of garri.

The police boss explained that the concealment was a deliberate attempt to evade detection, adding that three suspects were linked to the operation, with one allegedly receiving N1.3 million to procure the ammunition.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two suspected cultists, Lukman Abdul-Salam and Aliu Ismaila, were arrested over a shop breaking case in the Odota area, where goods worth N2.5 million were reportedly stolen.

Although the suspects denied involvement in the theft, they admitted belonging to a cult group, while an empty AK-47 magazine was recovered from their residence, raising further suspicion.

Similarly, police operatives arrested two other suspects, Fabiyi Benson Seyi and Sodiq Rasheed, in Ganmo area, recovering a locally made shotgun and a live cartridge during the operation.

In addition, a 29-year-old suspect, Umaru Aliu, was intercepted during a patrol along the Oroago axis, while another suspect, Hamza Woru, was arrested in Kaiama for unlawful possession of a human skull allegedly meant for ritual purposes.
