Police probe suspected ritual killing of teenager in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected ritual killing of a 16-year-old boy, Lawal Wahab, whose mutilated body was discovered days after he was declared missing.
Wahab, who had been living with his grandmother, was reported missing by his father, Mr. Lawal Olumide. His decomposing body was found on July 23, 2025, along the Old Express Road in Igbile-Ijebu, Ogun State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, a preliminary inspection of the corpse revealed that several body parts—including the head, wrists, heart, and genitals—had been removed, raising strong suspicions of ritual motives.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Omu-Ijebu Division arrested suspects linked to the killing. Those in custody include Salawu Omikansola, 25, and Serefusi Agemo, along with others. One of the suspects reportedly made a voluntary confessional statement, which was recorded on video.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the remains of the victim have been buried in line with Islamic rites.
The police have announced that the case file and relevant exhibits are being prepared for immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further investigation. A manhunt is also underway to apprehend other suspects still at large.
The Ogun State Police Command strongly condemned the crime, pledging to ensure that justice is served.
Citizens are urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
