Police recover ₦2.8m in stolen property, arrest suspects in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command has recovered stolen property worth ₦2.8 million and arrested several suspects in connection with a shop burglary in Akure.
The development was disclosed in a press release signed by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, Police Public Relations Officer of the state command.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 27, 2025, when one Musa Abdullahi reported that unknown persons had broken into his wife’s shop in the Osokoti area, Akure.
Ayalande said stolen items included ₦300,000 in cash, a deep freezer with a stabiliser valued at ₦500,000, assorted foodstuffs, other valuables, and seven 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil.
“During the course of investigation, credible information was received that one Adegdule Segun of Osokoti Layout, Akure, had been apprehended by members of the Oodua People’s Congress with suspected stolen items.
“The suspect, unable to give a satisfactory account of the items, was handed over to the police with the exhibits,” the statement said.
“His confessional statement provided vital leads which aided the arrest of three suspected receivers of the stolen property, namely Murtala Kabiru, Damilola Oyateru, and Ijilusi Opeyemi,” the statement added.
